Sliding sash windows depend upon gaps to let them move, but the gaps can sometimes let in draughts, noise and dust. The opposing surfaces can also start to stick or completely jam.

The window is disassembled and the sliding sashes are removed for machining the grooves that house the brushpile carriers. Whilst the sashes are removed they are weighed so weights can be adjusted, ensuring they are correctly balanced.

We can solve all those problems with our comprehensive overhaul and draught-proofing system. The low-friction brushpile strips we install, create a perfect seal, and let the windows slide up and down with ease.

Any excess paint build up is removed from the running faces of the sash box and the sliding sashes. The windows are checked for correct alignment and where necessary they are adjusted to ensure the meeting rails meet correctly.

This sash draught-proofing system reduces the amount of noise that penetrates from around the window and also stops the sashes rattling against each other.

The sash windows are re-corded, using a very long-lasting wax cotton cord with a polypropylene core. The sliding sashes are now reinstalled. The staff and parting beads are renewed with replicas of the original that now incorporate the brushpile.

Another noticeable reduction is in the amount of dust and other airborne pollutants that find their way into the home.

This system can also be installed in casement windows and doors.

These are pre-primed and undercoated (or can be left in bare wood for staining or waxing if preferred) ready for you to arrange final decoration. The result will be a window that is virtually draught-proof, easy to use and much quieter. This will now give you many years of trouble free service.
